The ceremony was held at the Kooroomba Vineyard at Mt Alford and Member for Beaudesert Aidan McLindon and Logan Chamber of Commerce president Greg Birkbeck also attended to congratulate the volunteers.

Mr Trood said it was great to recognise people of Queensland doing good things in the community.

“Volunteers are committed to giving up their time, without expecting anything in return and it is a delight to be here and recognise these people in the Scenic Rim community,” he said.

The volunteers of the Beaudesert Hospital Auxiliary were recognised at the awards ceremony.

Mr Trood said the auxiliary has been running since 1962 and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars since they began.

“The volunteers give their time to work at the kiosk, sell raffle tickets and raise money, which goes back into the hospital,” he said.

June Barratt was recognised for her spiritual care service at the awards ceremony.

Beaudesert RSL sub-committee vice president Noel Parker has been volunteering with the RSL since 1976 and was awarded for his work at the ceremony.

Mr Trood said Noel has also been involved with the Girl in a Million committee and also visits nursing homes.

Gordon Thomas Reid was congratulated by Mr Trood for his many volunteering efforts with Crossroads, working with the disabled and also assisting religious studies at Scenic Rim schools.

Mike Russell was also recognised by Mr Trood for his many volunteering efforts. Mike volunteers with Tamborine Mountain Landcare, Natural History Group and Tamborine Mountain bush volunteers. “Mike has helped in the regeneration of parks and creeks and his wife Elizabeth supports him in his volunteer work,” Mr Trood said.

Elise Wood was also recognised for her many efforts,volunteering for meals on wheels, Beaudesert Golf Club and has volunteered at the Beaudesert Swimming Club for 15 years.

Elise also gives her time to help with pet therapy at Wongaburra.

All the volunteers of the Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire service were recognised at the awards ceremony.

Mr Trood said these volunteers do vital and critical work in the community.
