Since his election to office, Senator Russel Trood has been a keen supporter of the internship program at Parliament House. The program enables Australian and overseas senior tertiary students to spend an allocated time of their studies in Parliament. Interns are placed with senators, members or parliamentary committees, and complete research projects nominated by the students or their hosts. Senator Trood’s, most recent intern, Australian National University (ANU) student Andrew Twigg, (pictured above with Senator Trood) completed an Australian National Internship Program (ANIP) in the Canberra office earlier this year. The ANIP offers students from the ANU the opportunity to go into a workplace and complete a research project for which they will receive academic credit. Andrew’s research project was entitled ‘The Global Financial Crisis and China.’
