CARDWELL State School has been awarded $500 in funding for a display it plans to construct for Seafest 2007.
Seafest is an annual event held in Cardwell which aims to promote and celebrate the town and it's aquatic surroundings.
The money was awarded as part of the Australian Government's Reef Guardian Schools, Ripples of Change program which aims to assist schools in undertaking environmental activities in 2007.
An award ceremony was to take place at Cardwell State School today in which senators Ian MacDonald and Russell Trood were to hand over a cheque for the funds.
"Seafest is a community educational festival celebrating the coast and these funds will help Cardwell State School develop a fantastic display to put on show at the festival," Senator MacDonald said.
