Around 10,000 cardholders were dropped from the scheme in the aftermath. Andrew Metcalfe, department head, said that a review into the scheme would include proper consultation and potential cost increases. Russell Trood, a senator for the Liberal party, said it was a significant communication breakdown. Chris Barnes of the Australia Indonesia Business Council was displeased at the debacle.
