THE Chaser tricksters have caused a hullabaloo in parliament and weren't even there.

In a Senate estimates committee yesterday, Liberal backbencher Russell Trood asked the Foreign Affairs Department whether the Chaser team used consular help after Craig Reucassel flew a blimp over the Vatican or asked Holy See ambassador Tim Fischer to get them out of a jam. He was told they didn't.
